Jeffrey A. Pyle


Mr. Pyle’s experience encompasses most aspects of intellectual property, including prosecution, litigation, and transactional matters involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and unfair competition, both domestically and abroad. During recent years, he has particularly emphasized domestic and foreign patent prosecution. His patent prosecution experience includes all facets of patent prosecution, from the taking of invention disclosures and the filing applications, to administrative appeals and post-administrative appeal procedures. International experience includes prosecution from filing through appeals and oral proceedings in many jurisdictions including, but not limited, Europe and the Pacific Rim both directly and through the Patent Cooperation Treaty. The litigation experience has come at both the trial and appellate levels in federal courts, in state courts, and in inter partes proceedings in the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The transactional experience includes acquisition and licensing matters both domestically and abroad for patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.

Prior to law school, Mr. Pyle worked as an engineer, programmer, and a technical writer for two entities that are now both a part of Lockheed Martin Corporation in the space program at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Mr. Pyle’s experience encompasses a wide variety of technologies, including computer hardware and software design, microprocessor architectures, computer networks, missile guidance systems, LADAR and RADAR applications, semiconductor processing and fabrication, HID lamps, life support systems, vehicle air brake systems, and geophysical exploration.

Mr. Pyle was a contributing author to International Intellectual Property Anthology (Anthony D'Amato & Doris Estelle Long eds., 1996), and a co-author of “An Overview of Intellectual Property Rights Abroad,” 16 Hous. J. Int'l L. 441 (1994).

Mr. Pyle is admitted to the State Bar of Texas, the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Federal and Fifth Circuits, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas.


Mr. Pyle is a member of the Houston Intellectual Property Law Association, Houston Bar Association, and the Federal Circuit Bar Association.
